Hello All:) June 3, 2009

Hope this email finds you doing well and enjoying summer! I’m writing to you all right now on a large Mexican bus. I’m on my way to a coastal town called Sayulita with Rachel, a lovely young woman I’ve met here. She was part of a two-month intensive Spanish program here. Her program is over and now she’s staying for a few more weeks to see the country, which gives us plenty of quality time to spend together.

Recently the team and I have really been seeing our church here (Antioch Bible Community) grow. It’s been so exciting for me! Every Sunday evening after the service, we serve a meal to everyone who comes. This has been a great time to fellowship and get to know people and also provides them with an opportunity to discuss the sermon and ask questions about it, which many of them do! I have seen real growth happening in people’s lives. It’s also been great to have a wider variety of people coming to the church, we can learn from them, they can use their various gifts to serve the church and it just feels more like a well-rounded body of Christ.

Relationships with young women here in this city have been taking precedence in my personal ministry lately. I have really enjoyed getting to spend time with these individual women where they are at specifically in life, in their relationship with the Lord and/or their quest for truth in the religious realm. It’s also been great just to be friends and hang out with other young people! Our whole team has been enjoying this I think:)

Addendum:
Yes, the swine flu has hit neighboring Mexico City and other parts of Mexico, as I am sure many of you are aware. However, as of yet, our whole team is healthy and happy with no signs of illness thus far:)
